Manipur to host World Bamboo Workshop
Manipur is all set to host the 3rd World Bamboo Workshop-2019 from February 4-8 in Imphal.
This is the first time that the bamboo workshop is being held in India. The first World Bamboo Workshop was held at Veracruz, Mexico in 2017 and the second edition was held last year at Lima, Peru.
Addressing a news conference here, state principal secretary (trade commerce & industries), P Vaiphei highlighted a brief feature account of the workshop.
“There will be 25 stalls located within the City Convention Centre on the ground floor which will specifically focus on bamboo products, bamboo technology, bamboo related items,” he said.
These 25 stalls will be mostly demonstrative in nature where the people of the state can come and experience it, he added.
Another 50 stalls will also be set up in Imphal’s Hapta Kengjeibung, said Vaiphei. “In this stalls, we are trying to showcase the rich handloom products we have along with the handicraft products,” he said.
World Bamboo Workshop is an annual event organised by World Bamboo Organization (WBO) with an objective to spread the traditional use and application of bamboo of a particular place or region of the world.
