Lhisemia Council (LC), Kohima village has adopted five-point resolution for the welfare of the community and to safe-guard the environment within its jurisdiction.

In a press statement, LC chairman Setuo Kelio and general secretary, Ketuovizo Tseikha stated that council has prohibited rash driving and wayside spilling of garbage at any stretch along the road. LC has also banned drilling of deep bore wells in the traditional jurisdiction of Lhisemia Khel as per Khel resolution of May 25, 2017.

It has therefore, resolved that the owners of all the wells constructed prior to this date shall share the water through pipeline with their neighbouring residents.

The council also prohibited rearing of pigs along the roadsides and in the vicinity of public places (Zieke, Dazhou and Halls). LC said that the ban has been imposed to avoid air pollution and dirtying of roadside and public places by piggery feeds and wastes.

LC has also strictly prohibited draining of septic tanks through open drain in all areas within the traditional jurisdiction of Lhisemia Khel. For places which are not accessible “cesspool”, the council has asked the owner to obtain prior permission from the Lhisemia Youth Organization. Further, LC has banned jungle burning under its jurisdiction. LC warned that violators in all the above mentioned resolutions will be penalized. In this regard, LC has appealed to all concern to comply with the above resolutions to avoid unwanted incidence that may arise.
